The Best Gaming Chairs
Before we get started with this review, I need to clear this up. A gaming chair is not the same as an office or dining room chair. If you play Solitaire for an hour or two every day or if you clock up a few hours on Grand Auto every other weekend you’re not going to need a chair specifically made for gamers; this is a case where any seat will do. But if you’re a serious gamer and spend hours at a time, and here we mean like eight to ten, at your PC or TV then a gaming chair with the correct support and comfortability is necessary.
Chairs for PC gaming have been built with only one thing in mind and that’s comfort. Of course there are chairs that come with a lot more hi-tech features but overall the main factors that a gamer looks for include the lumbar support, the armrests and headrest. When you think how much time a dedicated gamer is in the hot seat, so to speak, you’ll understand that the basic office chair isn’t going to be sufficient.
And it’s not only that a gaming chair is different to an office chair; hard core PC gamers will look for a chair that’s desk height, allowing you to sit ‘properly’ whereas a console gaming chair is on the ground. Breaking it down even further there are two types of console gaming chairs to consider as well: the pedestal style chair and the rocker. So there is a lot to keep in mind when looking for the right gaming chair for you.
The rocker and the pedestal are the two options for console gaming. The rocker sits on the floor and is designed with comfort in mind. They are L-shaped and come with a headrest, arm rests and padded backing. High-end rockers come with added features like subwoofers, speakers, wireless receivers and RCA inputs, taking gaming to a whole new level.
The pedestal chair is raised off the ground and allows you to tilt backwards and even swivel, which obviously the rockers doesn’t do. If you especially like racing games then the pedestal chair is your best bet.
Although PC gamers’ chairs look like an office chair because they’re desk height, that’s pretty much where the similarity ends. Most office chairs allow you to swivel, tilt back slightly and adjust the height but a gaming chair needs to be able to do so much more, and offer a huge amount of back support because of the time spent in it.
Our review includes pedestal and rockers, as well as PC gaming chairs and we’re hoping you’ll find a chair that suits your needs and your budget.

3. DXRacer Formula Series DOH/FH11/NE Newedge Edition Racing Bucket Seat
- Lumbar and headrest cushion
- 3D Soft and adjustable armrests cushion
- PU cover
- Breathable material
- Conventional Tilt Mechanism
- High straight back
- Integrated headrest
- Adjustable seat flexibility
The name’s a mouthful but so is their offering. The DXRacer Formula Series DOH/FH11/NE Office Chair is best known for extremely comfortable seating. From the high and straight backrest that can be adjusted, whether you’re gaming or sending off a quick mail to the material used for the DX Racer, the manufacturer has put careful consideration into the form and function of the gaming office chair.
Built for Comfort
The fabric used is a breathable PU which means you don’t sweat and stick to the seat, and it keeps the chair cool, even when the action is hotting up. The backrest is particularly high, allowing you to rest your head on the cushion while providing neck support too. Unlike your normal office chair you can also change the height of the chair by degrees, so you can go from upright to a 45 degree angle or if you need to take a quick power nap you can adjust the angle to get the best position for you.
Quiet as a Mouse
This chair offers noiseless movement, so not only are you quiet while sneaking up on an opponent in the game, you won’t keep everyone awake with squeaks and creaks while you’re playing. Backwards and forwards movement aside, the tilt mechanism of this DXRacer is beyond anything you’ve experienced before. Unlike other chairs you can adjust the back and armrests and height while you’re reclined; this means you can get your perfect positioning exactly how you want it.
- Easy to assemble
- Reclines 170 degrees
- Arm rests can be removed
- There are very few cons to this chair, but if we need to nit-pick then we need to mention the two elastic bands that run up and down the back of the chair; it’s not the best design feature, considering the detail that has gone into other aspects of the chair.
Possibly a little pricey, although we consider it to be a chair for multiple uses, this is an excellent purchase. Everything is configurable, from the tilt, the height, the armrests and the supports. The material is a good quality woven mesh, which unlike the pleather some chairs are covered with, and doesn’t thin out, peel or crack. The chair has a good weight to it and is incredibly stable, no matter how excited you get during combat. Highly recommended.
4. Vertagear S-Line SL2000 Racing Series Gaming Chair
Slightly more expensive than other gaming chairs, the Vertagear is a combination of form and function and ergonomics. Designed to adjust to the exact position you prefer, this chair gives you the very best in comfort and support
There’s nothing on the chair that isn’t adjustable; the seat height, armrests and back all adjust to prevent repetitive stress from being in the same position all the time. You can alter the armrests to find a comfortable position and the backrest reclines up to 170 degrees, which is pretty cool.
The SL2000 uses synthetic PVC leather that is durable and adds to the overall aesthetics of the chair. Keeping in mind that gamers are probably eating and drinking at their PC the material is stain and water resistant, making it easy to clean. The chair is light but incredibly stable and well-made and the tilt tension mechanism lets you adjust the rocking motion, without having to use too much pressure.
- Awesome color options available
- Comfortable support for head and back
- Reclining backrest mechanism
- Solid construction
- Racing wheels
- Not necessarily comfortable for larger than average people
There’s a lot to like about this chair, from the very cool color combinations through to the design that makes it super comfortable. You’ll feel as if this chair was made with you in mind, simply because you’re able to adjust pretty much everything to suit your unique build. The chair is a strong contender for the title of the best PC gaming chair on the market.
Giantex Executive Racing Style High Back Reclining Chair Gaming Chair

If you’re new to gaming and don’t want to drop a huge amount of money on a chair, or if your budget is slightly limited (whose isn’t nowadays?) the Giantex Executive Racing Style High Back Reclining Chair Gaming Chair is a good option. Even though we’re all for slightly more expensive gaming chairs that offer pretty much everything, we’re also aware not everyone has the cash for the top-of-the-range offerings. And the good news is that a cost-effective chair doesn’t mean it’s a badly put together one.
Giantex has created a chair that offers value for money, comfort and is reliable for a fraction of the cost of some other chairs. It has a removable headrest and lumbar cushion and the reclining mechanism tilts up to 150 degrees. The chair swivels 360 degreed and the swivel design and 5 wheels allow for easy movement

.The chair is excellent value for money and won’t leave you with post-purchase dissonance.
